Autumn Winter 2008 in stores now!

Hello all, we’ve finally updated the website with the Autumn/Winter 2008 Catalog. Many items have already shipped and are in stores now!  Please check it out!  We are working on the next season’s exhibition scheduled for the end of this month in Tokyo, see you there!

101ers

The 101 Pacific Coast Highway is one of my favorite places to travel and it’s right in my “backyard” so to speak.  I finally got a chance to travel the North West corner of Washington, and all the way down the 101 to Oregon.  Here are a few highlights:

First stop was the ferry landing at Port Townsend.  A wicked little arts town, and I got a chance to skate my first Dreamland Park:  they build it smooth and steep, check out the sweet lines:

La Push, WA – my friends Jon and Kenta turned me onto this spot, a remote First Nations fishing community with some steep waves for the surfers.

Short Sands in Oswald National Park, Oregon, is the spot to check out if you surf.  We wanted to camp there but the Rangers had just shut down the campground due to falling trees, a real bummer!

Lincoln City boasts another Dreamland creation, it was really hard to photograph.  There were 3 distinct sections, I only skated the Capsule bowl, it was tight and scary, enough said!

We finally ended up in Portland.  One of our favorite American cities, highlights included our hotel (The Modera), best dinner in years (Navarre), and an amazing independent wineshop, called Blackbird, and of course, Stumptown coffee.

We stopped in Seattle for some dinner and had a few minutes to check out Stephen Holl’s Chapel of St. Ignatius, an amazing piece of architecture, the details are amazing.  A must see for all visitors to Seattle.

I can’t wait for next year’s roadtrip…

Summer Holiday

It’s been a long time since posting and I apologize.  Although the dead air might imply I was in full summer holiday mode, I’ve actually been working hard on some more shop projects (plus, admittedly, fitting in abit of camping trips).  Here is the latest project to come out of the woodshop, 2 cabinets inspired by my friend’s grandfather’s chart drawers.  There is NO hardware, only wood.  Solid maple fronts with American walnut details, plus the structure made from baltic birch ply.

I’ve also been waiting for the go ahead to post some pics of an ongoing project I’ve been doing with Tyler from Super Champion (www.superchampionshop.com).  A BIG thank you to Ty and Hiro (from Alive Athletics) for getting me involved – basically, Ty asked me to design a watch that was classic and functional and something he would actually wear!  I’m also posting some pics of the latest tees I’ve designed for the shop.  All designs are now available.  The kit has sold out but there are plans to run some more!  All you roadies get your pre-orders in!

In other news, a BIG sandinista update is in the works, the Autumn Winter lineup looks HOT!!!!

Thanks for watching…

Wheel Smithing

Building wheels can either be the most frustrating thing in the world, or the most rewarding.  In this case, new Phils hubs with NOS Mavic Open 4 CDs – how can you go wrong?  This build is coming together quite nicely…
